Super D

2014 ESFTF PTD Super D

Progressive Trail Design and Adventure Subaru is proud to reveal the PTD Super D. The PTD Super D course is designed to be a cross over point for Downhill and Cross Country riders. Predominately Downhill, this course has one climb but does have two intense DH sections including one along the DH course. What should be remembered though is that there are roll around options for all DH features. There is nothing on the Super D course that one wouldn’t encounter on the XC course unless they choose to negotiate the features on the DH Course. Full face helmets are not required and many Super D Riders compete in the same gear they use for XC competition. As part of the new XC Fat Tire Omni and Fatty Omni the PTD Super D competition should see a ton of action this year.

Date: 7/19/2014

Start Time: 4 pm

Pre Race Meeting: 3:30pm Top of course at the Harlee Inn on Hwy . 62 across from Angler’s Restaurant. Failure to make this meeting may result in DQ!

Format: One Run! Categories and Classes run in descending sequence starting with Cat I. Riders are separated by one minute intervals.

Course Description:

This course is very XC friendly but will challenge the best XC rider and benefit the DH skilled riders who take the big guy lines. No one should be afraid of the course but there will be some serious speed and danger for riders. Although full face helmets are not required, pads and full faces are recommended for those who plan on catching air and bombing the DH parts.

The run will start at the Harlee Inn Hotel on hwy. 62 across from Angler’s Restaurant and Pub. The first few hundred feet are DH roadside easement into the hwy. 62 spur trail. (This trail is on private property. Please stay on the trail). It flattens out for before tackling the only climb on the course. (roughly 50 feet in elevation and about 200 meters in distance). The course then joins the PBR Downhill Course, shredding some pretty gnarly features (refer to DH course description). It will stay on the DH course until it comes to the first MIner’s Rock Trail X-ing after the rock drop section. (the Super D course will utilize the middle rock drop into the left hand berm. The 8′ drop line will not be open). Turning left on Miner’s Rock the course follows it for approximately a half mile of rolling bench trail. It will then turn right at the big sink hole onto a forest road as Miner’s Rock trail heads left. The forest road descends STEEPLY and comes to a power line. There will be a monster sender into the power line cut. The course then descends STEEPLY along a washed out forest road with ledges and loose rocks. Near where the road junctions with LLCP entrance road the course dives right into the woods on a newly cut spur single track. It stays right as it joins a spur and runs through a tunnel under the LLCP entrance road. It takes a final right on a service road and runs about 150 feet to the DH and Super D finish line. (No finish line gap jump). Roughly one and three quarter miles total.
